You will need to download the apps and set up an account with MindBody. Also downloading the Zoom app and setting up an account is helpful but now required as you will receive a Zoom link for your class electronically. (for help, text/call 828-551-5769).
Any class that has 2 or less students registered as of 2 hours before class has a chance of being cancelled. Students who have registered will be notified by both text & email if this happens.
Booking your class at least 2 hours ahead not only gives me time to adjust the class to meet students' needs but also helps to minimize the chance of class being cancelled.
All online classes are 55 minutes long. Classes are rated for the following level:
Level 1: Beginner class designed specifically for students new to yoga.
Level 1/2: Beginner & intermediate level students welcome.
Level 2: Intermediate level class that refines previously learned poses and introduces new ones, while increasing stamina, strength, & flexibility.
Level 2/3: Intermediate to advanced level class.
Level 3: Advanced class designed for dedicated practitioners.
*Special Note For Beginners: Yes, Restorative Yoga is appropriate for you but be aware that patience is necessary to achieve the desired result of BLISS. If you are a Beginner with a Type A personality, you may find another Level 1 class to be more suitable.
Students move through a specific sequence of poses, with the majority of the movements synchronized to the breath. Classes begin with centering and warm-up poses, with cool down poses and inspirational breath work at the end. Level 1/2.
Sequences are designed to regain alignment of the spine through hatha (left and right balancing) yoga postures (both standing and floor). Focus on targeting weakened core muscles and releasing back tension, which can accumulate due to stress and misalignment. You will gain strength and flexibility through regular attendance of this class.
An extra challenging yoga class designed to give a complete workout for ALL your muscles. Expect cardio and abdominal work and maximize your caloric expenditure with this flow style class. Look for opportunities to test your balance and strength as you hold advanced balancing poses.
In Backcare/Gentle Flow students move through a specific sequence of very slow floor poses, with the majority of the movements targeted to carefully release and strengthen the back. The last 15 minutes of class focus on static floor poses supported with blankets to deeply relax the body in balance.
Passive use of floor poses to promote flexibility in the fascia tissues and also promote health and stability in the joints through alignment. Class will include centering, meditation and pranayama.
You'll find the foundational postures of yoga heavily used throughout for their power to promote strength, flexibility, and alignment in the body's muscles and joints. Expect detailed alignment cues on 3-4 related poses in each flow sequence. Practice linking your breath with movement and look for simplicity, repetition, and ease of movement.
Held before the Monday and Wednesday 10am class, warm & stretch your body using a variety of different Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar) styles that complement the class to follow. There are typically around 12 asanas that are flow together to promote strength, circulation and flexibility. In addition, the poses help to lubricate joints, enhancing their range of motion.
Time For You as you enter the still world of restorative yoga. Savor long (from 2-10 minutes) passive poses designed to hold and open specific parts of your body (think organs, muscle groups, energy centers). The effects deepen with the skillful use of props and the intention for class to to achieve a state of bliss.
The current heavy times call for some fun. Designed to throw you back to earlier "good times" in rock n' roll's past, each class will pay tribute to the music of a single well-known rock star. Move and groove into some yoga fun with this flow class.
Explore yoga postures in a totally new way using the most formidable yoga prop of all- A Wall. Get the benefits of a challenging Level 2 class in a shorter amount of time and with less effort, thanks to gravity. Deepen your stretches and rinse yourself out, thanks to The Wall.
